Your operation already has a story. BirdDog just makes it easy to tell — and easy for hunters to find. Whether you've got a polished website or a stack of rate sheets in a filing cabinet, we'll help you build a professional profile in minutes, not days.
Step 1: Tell Us About Your Operation
When you start your BirdDog profile, you've got two paths — pick whichever fits your situation.
Option A: Paste your website URL. If you have a website, this is the fastest route. Drop your URL into the field and hit "Start Import." BirdDog will scan your site and pull the details — your hunts, lodging, pricing, photos, property descriptions, and more. You don't need a perfect website. Even an older site gives us enough to build a strong starting point.
Option B: Upload documents or tell us directly. No website? No problem. You can upload brochures, rate sheets, photos, or any documents that describe your operation. You can also tell us about your operation through our onboarding assistant, which will walk you through a few simple questions to capture what you offer.
Most operators are surprised how much BirdDog can pull together from either path. Think of this step as handing us the raw materials — we'll organize them for you.
Step 2: BirdDog Analyzes Your Data
Once you've submitted your website or documents, BirdDog goes to work. You'll see a progress screen while we organize your information into a structured profile. Here's what's happening behind the scenes:
We're identifying your hunting and fishing experiences, pulling lodging details and amenities, organizing pricing and availability, and gathering your best photos.
This typically takes less than a few minutes. If you took the upload or manual path, our onboarding assistant may ask a couple of follow-up questions to fill in gaps — things like species offered, group sizes, or seasonal availability.
The key thing to know: nothing goes live without your approval. We're building a draft, not publishing.
Step 3: Review Your Listings
This is where you take the wheel. BirdDog presents everything we found, organized into individual listings — your experiences, lodging options, and any add-ons or field services we detected.
You'll see each listing with the details we pulled: titles, descriptions, pricing, photos, and categories. Review the full list and edit anything that needs correcting. Update descriptions, swap photos, adjust pricing — whatever makes it accurate to your operation. If we missed something, you can add it. If we included something that doesn't apply, remove it.
Once you're satisfied with the full list, confirm and move forward. You're not approving each listing one at a time — it's a single review of everything before you continue.
A tip: Don't aim for perfection here. Get the basics right — accurate pricing, correct species, honest descriptions — and you can always refine later from your dashboard. Done is better than perfect when it comes to getting your profile live.
Step 4: Create Your Account
Almost there. This step is straightforward — enter your contact information, choose your operation's categories, and set up your account credentials.
You'll provide your name and email, create a password, select the categories that describe your operation (hunting, fishing, lodging, etc.), and add your business details.
This takes about two minutes. Once you hit "Finish," your profile is built and your dashboard is ready.
Step 5: You're Live
That's it. Your BirdDog profile is published, your listings are active, and hunters can start finding your operation on the marketplace.
From here, you'll land in your BirdDog dashboard, where you can manage your properties, fine-tune your experiences, handle bookings, set your calendar, and communicate with hunters — all in one place.
A few things worth doing in your first few minutes on the dashboard: check that your availability and calendar are up to date, add any experiences or details that weren't captured during onboarding, and upload additional photos if you have them (see our Photograph Best Practices guide for tips on what performs best).
Common Questions About Onboarding
What if my website is outdated? That's fine. BirdDog uses whatever's there as a starting point. You'll have a chance to edit everything before it goes live — think of your website as a head start, not a final answer.
What if BirdDog pulls something wrong? It happens. The review step exists specifically for this. Edit or remove anything that doesn't look right. You're in control of what gets published.
Can I come back and finish later? Yes. Your progress is saved. You can pick up where you left off without starting over.
How long does the whole process take? Most operators go from sign-up to live profile in under 10 minutes. If you're uploading documents or using the assistant, it might take a few minutes longer.
I have questions during setup — where do I get help? Our onboarding assistant is available during the process, and you can always reach the BirdDog team through the messaging feature once your account is active.
